His back ground is his family. His father was French navigator, geographer, cartographer, draughtsman, soldier, explorer, ethnologist, diplomat, chronicler, and the founder of Quebec city on July 3, 1608.
Samuel De Champlain was born at Brouage. And he is French Geographer, navigator and explorer.
2. What is his relationship with Canada? Why is he important to Canada?
In 21 voyages to New France he laid the foundations for modern Canada.
He explored much of eastern Canada and became known as the father of New France.
3. When did he explore? What was happening during history at this time?
In 1603 he went to first time to go to canada as geographer on a fur-trading expedition.
And he made a very accurate map of Canada from Hudson Bay in the north down to the Great Lakes.
